Sound familiar?

The conversation was good. Then life happened.

You leave your BNI chapter, chamber group, or TAPS meeting with three people to introduce and a promise to send a service guide. At next week's meeting, someone asks how it went. You remember making the promise. You cannot remember all the details. Weekly networking gives you another chance to build trust, but it also makes unfinished follow-up visible.

What slips away with the follow-up

Membership dues and time in the room are only part of the investment. A partner who cannot count on your follow-through may hesitate to put you in front of a client. Being present every week matters less if the helpful conversations never turn into action.

Put it into practice

A better next step

  1. Prepare for the one-to-one

Review your private notes before sitting down. Ask what a good referral looks like this month, which projects they want, and what they would rather decline.

  2. Write down the promise

Keep the requested resource or introduction with the person's context. Share your service guide through your QR offer so partners have something concrete to remember you by.

  3. Return with an update

Propose relevant introductions with both people's consent. At the next meeting, report whether you asked, are waiting, or completed the hand-off. An honest status is better than another vague promise.

Where ConnectQR fits

Keep the context. Make the connection.

ConnectQR keeps partner context, follow-up preparation, and mutual Handshakes in one workspace. Pro adds memory briefings and reviewed introduction drafts. Use it to arrive prepared and make your next referral specific, with private notes kept out of the shared introduction.

A message you can adapt

Give them a reason to reply.

You mentioned wanting to meet commercial property managers at our one-to-one. I know someone who may fit. Are you still taking those projects? If so, I will ask whether they would like an introduction.

Illustrative wording. Replace it with the details and promises from your own conversation.
